  • Love hearing the Gospel proclaimed here in season and out if season.

My family regrets having spent about eight years at Omaha Bible Church. There are some wonderful people there, and the church has some good qualities to be sure, but it can’t seem to escape its roots in religious fundamentalism, and it retains a strong tendency toward legalism. The preaching tends to be sarcastic and narrow. The leadership is authoritarian, and there is no accountability structure to prevent pastoral abuse. A suspicious, judgmental spirit plagues the whole culture, and some of the leaders have a considerable problem with anger. Because they don’t follow Matthew 18 consistently, such problems appear intractable. One may expect to learn a certain amount of doctrine there, but not, in my judgment, to see the heart of Christ in considerable expression in terms at least of the leadership.

  • It is strengthening to be in a body that is authentically seeking to understand the basis' for sound doctrine together growing in an edifying fellowship. I am growing in my fundamentals of the faith and deeper basis of doctrine as a relatively seasoned student, comparatively, and therefore growing in my faith. My first year was checking the integrity of leadership and my second year has been deepening my understanding of their most comprehensive view and practice to establishing biblical provisions for our body to live out the Word of God. It's a secure and encouraging feeling to be with people who are responsible with their lives and with true truth. His Love, Peace and Joy -- Andrew Houser

Oppressive, intolerant, and unwelcoming doctrine. Also, it is mostly a bunch of affluent white people who think they have a hard time in life, but in reality they're some of the most privilege people on the planet. They should probably donate their building to help others, and then meet in parks for learning. Wouldn't that be what Jesus would do? Humility, caring for others first, and compassion.

Also, last time I was there, they had a book store. Since when did the Bible advocate selling books to church members? Shouldn't they just make a library that is free for everyone to use? Maybe that would be too hard for them to do.
